How to Use This Guide
Each state links to the finddetailing.com directory filtered for that region. Listings include ratings, contact information, services offered, and direct links to book appointments.
For states with large metro areas, we've highlighted cities with the highest concentration of shops. For smaller states, the directory covers the full state comprehensively.
Western United States
California
California has the highest density of professional detailing shops in the country, particularly in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and San Diego. The state's car culture drives significant investment in paint protection — ceramic coating and PPF shops are everywhere.
Notable sub-markets:
- Los Angeles: Specialization in luxury and exotic vehicles, PPF installation, mobile detailing
- San Francisco Bay Area: Premium ceramic coating, eco-friendly waterless wash options
- San Diego: Strong mobile detailing market, military vehicle clientele
Washington
Seattle's weather creates strong demand for ceramic coating (water repellency) and regular detailing. The Pacific Northwest market skews toward maintenance detail packages and paint protection.
Oregon
Portland has a concentrated market with environmentally conscious detailing options. Waterless wash and steam cleaning services are popular here.
Nevada
Las Vegas has a surprising density of high-end detailing shops serving luxury car owners and casino clientele. Henderson and North Las Vegas also have growing markets.
Arizona
Phoenix and Scottsdale have strong markets driven by UV damage concerns — ceramic coating is particularly popular in a state with 300+ days of direct sunlight annually. Scottsdale caters to luxury and classic car owners.
Colorado
Denver and Colorado Springs see strong demand for paint protection products — road salt in winter and UV at elevation combine to create real paint challenges. The Boulder market has eco-focused detailing options.
Southern United States
Texas
Texas is one of the largest detailing markets in the country. Houston and Dallas both have extensive networks of shops across all price points.
Notable sub-markets:
- Houston: Dense market with strong mobile detailing presence
- Dallas / Fort Worth: Luxury vehicle focus, ceramic coating specialists
- Austin: Growing market with tech-industry clientele who invest in premium services
- San Antonio: Value-focused market with competitive pricing
Florida
Florida's humidity, UV exposure, and salt air create genuine demand for paint protection. Miami leads in luxury vehicle detailing. Tampa, Orlando, and Jacksonville all have competitive markets.
Georgia
Atlanta is the dominant market with a strong mix of mobile and fixed-location shops. The luxury car culture in Buckhead drives demand for premium ceramic coating and PPF.
Tennessee
Nashville's growing population and car culture have driven rapid market growth. Memphis has a strong value detailing market.
North Carolina
Charlotte and Raleigh-Durham have competitive detailing markets. The Research Triangle's tech industry has increased demand for premium services.
Northeastern United States
New York
New York City's market skews toward mobile detailing (space constraints) and very high-end shop detailing. Manhattan shops command premium prices. Long Island and Westchester have strong suburban markets.
New Jersey
Dense population with strong income drives a robust market, particularly in Bergen County and along the shore. PPF is popular for vehicles facing salt air exposure.
Pennsylvania
Philadelphia and Pittsburgh anchor the state's detailing market. The Pittsburgh market is especially strong for paint protection — rust-belt road salt is hard on cars.
Massachusetts
Boston's market has premium pricing driven by high costs of living. Route 128 corridor tech workers are a strong customer segment for premium services.
Connecticut
Fairfield County has one of the highest concentrations of luxury vehicles per capita in the US — and detailing shops that cater to that market accordingly.
Midwestern United States
Illinois
Chicago is the dominant market, with a competitive landscape for both mobile and shop-based detailing. Suburban Cook County and DuPage County have strong secondary markets.
Ohio
Cleveland, Columbus, and Cincinnati all have well-established detailing markets. Ohio's road salt winters drive demand for undercarriage and paint protection services.
Michigan
Detroit's car culture makes it a unique market — automotive professionals and enthusiasts with high standards. Detroit, Grand Rapids, and Ann Arbor all have shops that cater to serious enthusiasts.
Minnesota
Minneapolis-St. Paul is the main market. Minnesota winters create demand for protection-focused services — paint sealants, ceramic coatings, and undercarriage washing before salt season.
Wisconsin
Milwaukee leads the state's market. Summer is the busy season; shops offer paint protection packages ahead of winter.
Full State Directory
Every state in the US is covered in the finddetailing.com directory:
Filter by your specific city to find shops with ratings, services, and contact information. Whether you need a basic interior clean, paint correction, or a full ceramic coating package, the directory lets you compare shops before you book.
What to Look For in Any State
No matter where you live, the criteria for finding a quality detailing shop are the same:
Verified reviews at volume. A shop with 4.7 stars across 200+ reviews is a much stronger signal than one with 5.0 stars across 11 reviews. Look for patterns in what reviewers say, not just the star count.
Specialization that matches your need. If you need paint correction, find a shop that specifically mentions it and has before/after photos. A general detailing shop that "also does correction" is not the same as a correction specialist.
Clear service definitions. Any shop worth booking can tell you exactly what's included at each tier. "Full detail" should come with a specific list: what cleaning method for carpet, whether leather is conditioned, what protection product goes on paint.
Transparent pricing. Shops that require you to come in for a quote before telling you anything may be fishing for upsell opportunities. Good shops have pricing ranges on their website or will quote accurately over the phone.
Response time. How a shop responds to an inquiry is often predictive of how they'll treat your car. Shops that respond within a few hours, answer questions directly, and communicate clearly tend to be the same way in their work.
Market Differences by Region
Sun Belt states (AZ, NV, FL, TX, CA coastal): UV protection is the dominant value proposition. Ceramic coating demand is higher here than anywhere else in the country. Expect more ceramic coating specialists and higher pricing for UV-focused products.
Snow Belt states (MN, WI, OH, PA, NY, IL): Road salt is the threat. Shops in these markets often emphasize paint protection, undercarriage washing, and wheel well cleaning. Interior conditioning is also more popular in dry winter climates that crack leather.
Coastal markets (coastal CA, FL, NJ, MA): Salt air corrosion is a real concern. Paint protection film and ceramic coating shops are more common. Shops catering to boat owners often offer marine detailing as well.
Major urban markets (NYC, LA, Chicago, Houston): High density of options means more price competition and more specialization. You're more likely to find dedicated ceramic coating studios, mobile detailing subscription services, and exotic car specialists in these markets.
